Registration for preschool still open

There are currently openings in the morning and afternoon preschool programs at Eden Prairie High School for children ages 3 to 5.

The preschool, a tradition since 1978, is planned, organized and taught by students in the parenting and child psychology classes at the high school. The dates for this year's preschool are Nov. 21 to Jan. 22.

Children must be available to attend Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The morning session is from 8:10 to 10:40 a.m. The afternoon session is from 11:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. A $50 donation helps cover the cost of snacks and supplies for the entire session.

For information or to register for the morning program, contact Peg Schufman at 952-975-6805 or pschufman@edenpr.org; for the afternoon program, contact Anne Almli at 952-975-2715 or aalmli@edenpr.org

Parenting class at St. David's Center

St. David's Center's first parenting class of the new school year, "Parenting from the Heart: Compassion, Connection and Choice," will be held Oct. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St. David's Center, 3395 Plymouth Rd.

Presenter Yvette Erasmus brings a background in psychology, healing and education to the conversation, which will offer practical skills for parents. Attendees will learn how to understand the needs behind behavior, especially behaviors that are viewed as unpleasant or difficult.

Erasmus will address how communication practices can create a home environment where both children and parents are nurtured emotionally.

The event is free and open to the public, but online registration is required. For more information, contact special events manager Layne Trout at 952-548-8627 or events@stdavidscenter.org.
