Former Minnetonka goalie Sydney Rossman signed with the Connecticut Whale of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). Rossman backstopped the Skippers to three Class 2A championships from 2011 through 2013 and was in net for the Skippers' epic six-overtime victory over Lakeville North in the 2013 Class 2A tournament semifinals.

Rossman recently wrapped up a four-year career at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., where she compiled a 52-13-11 record with a 1.16 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage.

Bonus lacrosse

The season has not been a rousing success for the Osseo/Park Center boys' lacrosse team, but its May 10 game against Armstrong will be something players will likely never forget.

Osseo/Park Center trailed 3-1 after one period but rallied to tie the score 4-4 on a late second-half goal by Caleb Love. The teams played into a fourth overtime before junior midfielder Chris Kuras scored the game-winner, giving O/PC a 5-4 victory.

Softball standouts

• Edina senior Molly McGarry hit .800 (12-for-15) with a home run, seven doubles and 11 RBI as the Hornets won three of four games during a stretch from May 8-11.

• In a recent run of seven games, Benilde-St. Margaret's freshman Sarah Houlihan celebrated her move to the No. 3 slot in the batting order by gong 5-for-12 with two home runs, 12 RBI, eight runs scored and five walks. She is the sister of Gophers softball star Maddie Houlihan.
