RICHFIELD

School, community bands to perform The Academy of Holy Angels will host a winter band and sacred choral concert on Sunday at the school.

Joining the Academy Concert Band and Jazz Band will be the Richfield Symphonic Band, a community band directed by Ken Ziemann.

Each group will perform its own program and then they will perform together for two selections.

The band concert begins at 1 p.m. in the school's theater and the choral ensembles will perform at 3 p.m. in the school's St. John the Evangelist Chapel.

Holy Angels is located at 6600 Nicollet Av. S. in Richfield. Admission to the concert, which is open to all, is free. Donations will be accepted.

Students chosen for Senate Youth Program Iman Fears of Bloomington and Hahn Chang of Maple Grove have been chosen as delegates to the 48th Annual U.S. Senate Youth Program to be held March 6-13 in Washington.

Fears is a former student in Bloomington Public Schools' Dimensions Academy program for profoundly gifted students and attended Jefferson High School for a year before transferring to the St. Paul Conservatory for the Performing Arts.

They were chosen from hundreds of applicants who were judged on their academic excellence and commitment to their communities.

Each year this competitive merit-based program brings together 104 of the most outstanding high school students in the country for a week-long study of the federal government and the American political process.

Each delegate also receives a $5,000 scholarship from the Hearst Foundation, which covers all of the transportation and expenses for the Washington week.

MINNETONKA

Chinese New Year celebration Friday Minnetonka Public Schools staff members, students and their families are invited to a celebration of the Chinese New Year beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Minnetonka High School, 18301 W. Hwy. 7.

The event will feature food from two Chinese restaurants, music, dancing, art and games.

While entertainment and admission is free, the food is not. Beijing Restaurant will be charging $6 for dinner and Mandarin Yang will sell appetizers ranging in price from $1 to $2.75 in the student union.

Food tickets will be sold outside the cafeteria and main entrance starting at 5:30 p.m. A live performance will begin at 6 p.m. Enter through the school's west entrance.

BENILDE-ST. MARGARET

Junior high play set for March 5-7 The Benilde-St. Margaret's drama department will present this year's junior high production, "Annie Jr.", March 5-7.

Show times are 7 p.m. on March 5 and 6 and 2 p.m. on March 7.

Tickets cost $10 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, and are free for children under age 5.
