West metro school briefs: Openings available for Eden Prairie High preschool program

There are openings in the morning and afternoon preschool programs offered at Eden Prairie High School for children ages 3 to 5.

The preschool is planned, organized and taught by students in parenting and child psychology classes. The dates for this year's preschool are April 16 through June 1.

Children must be available to attend Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The morning session runs from 9:35 to 11:35 a.m. and the afternoon session from 12:20 to 2:20 p.m. A $40 donation helps cover the cost of snacks and supplies for the entire session.

All families with children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to Blessed Trinity's STEM Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 26. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

There is no cost to attend. Presented by Curious Minds, the following topics will be explored: Human Body & Engineering, Simple Machines & Engineering, Building Structures & Engineering, Arts in Habitats, and Animal Homes.

STEM Night will be held on Blessed Trinity's Penn Campus, located at 7540 Penn Av. S.

Parents looking to run a few childfree errands will soon have the option to send their toddlers to high school. Hopkins High School's Child Psychology II class is opening its annual Royal Den Playschool on April 21.

Students and their instructor plan educational activities for the playschool, including math, arts and crafts, science, reading, music, and games/exercises. The hours will be 1:20 to 2:25 p.m. Tuesday through Friday from April 21 to June 3.

Children must be 3 or older and potty-trained. Parents can enroll their child in all or some of the scheduled days.
