Free parenting class
St. David's Center's Community Education series continues on Nov. 21 when Faith Mianulli presents "Raising Responsible Children: A Mini-Course in Effective Parenting."
The session will explore the underlying causes of misbehavior and help parents explore new ways to encourage cooperation in children.
New ways to tune into a child's behavior, listening techniques and ways to talk about feelings will be discussed. Parents and caregivers will learn how to think about discipline in a different way by using praise and encouragement to build self-esteem in children.
A mother of three, Mianulli understands the challenges busy families face. Her areas of expertise include sensory processing disorders, ADHD and parent education.
Mianulli also teaches Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP), a seven-week series for parents at St. David's each fall and spring, which is the basis for this mini-course.
The session will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the gym at St David's Center for Child & Family Development, 3395 Plymouth Road, Minnetonka. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required by Nov. 19 at www.stdavidscenter.org/ces.
