CHASKA

WEEK OF FEB. 1

Drugs. Police were called to Chaska High School, 545 Pioneer Trail, on a report of drugs. According to police reports, an employee had smelled smoke coming from a restroom. Two male students were smoking marijuana, police said. The students were cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and faced additional school disciplinary action.

CORCORAN

JAN. 27

Suspicious vehicle. Someone called police to report a suspicious vehicle on Bechtold Road and County Road 10. The caller said the vehicle was running with its headlights on, and it appeared that no one was in the vehicle. An officer determined it was a newspaper carrier taking a nap.

Miscellaneous. A man called police from the 7800 block of Maple Hill Road and stated that he was being attacked psychically. An officer encouraged the caller to contact his priest or doctor regarding the situation.

EDINA

FEB. 8

Theft. Someone broke into a vehicle on the 7600 block of France Avenue and took a computer, golf clubs and a heart monitor. The estimated loss totaled $3,500.

FEB. 9

Fraud. Officers responded to a report of a person waiting to pick up a forged prescription at Target, 7000 York Av. S. Police arrested a 38-year-old Edina man for prescription forgery.

FEB. 11

Drugs. Police responded to a report regarding the smell of marijuana at a business in Southdale Center, 66th Street and France Avenue S. Police arrested a 25-year-old Brooklyn Center man, a 24-year-old Brooklyn Center man and a 23-year-old Maple Grove man; all three were cited for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

MEDINA

JAN. 24

Gas leak. Someone from the 300 block of Cherry Hill called police to report smelling gas. An officer arrived and determined the odor was not natural gas but sewer gas. The Medina public works department was contacted to deal with the incident.

PLYMOUTH

JAN. 23

Fraud. A resident called police to report a theft. She said she had a room for rent and that she had received a check from a would-be renter for $1,600 over the amount needed for the deposit. The renter asked her to wire the extra money back, and she did. She later found out that the check was no good.

JAN. 25

Fraud. A man from a home on the 15800 block of 25th Court called police to report that he had been a victim of fraud. According to police reports, the man said he had received an e-mail that appeared to be from a friend stating he was in England and had been robbed and needed money. The man wired over $1,700, then received another e-mail purportedly from the friend saying he had not received the money. After making a phone call, the man found out his friend was not in England and had not sent the e-mails.

JAN. 26

Theft. An employee of a hotel on the 200 block of Carlson Parkway called police to report a theft. A hotel employee said the hotel has a free breakfast area for guests and that a man had been coming in two to three times a week and eating breakfast without paying. Hotel staff confronted the man and he fled in a vehicle.
