The West Coast is going to get pummeled by a bunch of storms starting verysoon. The first will hit Sunday and Sunday night then the action will runnonstop next week. The storms will bring heavy rain, especially to California where it has beenpretty dry so far this winter. In Los Angeles, for instance, there has only be0.10 of an inch of rain since Dec. 21.

Given the pattern that is setting up, there may be places in California thatget over a half a foot of rain between next Monday and Friday. In other words, this may be one of those situations in which there is too much rain all atonce. That could mean serious flooding and mudslides for the region.

In the Sierra-Nevada mountains, the storms will bring excessive amounts ofsnow. A mountain pass location like Donner Summit will get 2 to 3 feet of snowby the end of next week.
