Gallery shows works of artist Monica ReedeThe Bloomington Theatre and Art Center will present "Convergences," an exhibition of the work of Monica Reede, Jan. 10 through March 3 at its Atrium Gallery.

The free exhibit will be on public display Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., and Sundays from 1-10 p.m.

Arboretum gears up for winter activitiesThe Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is gearing up for winter with outdoor activities designed to embrace the cold.

"Outdoors with Hoigaard's!" events will be held Friday at 11 a.m. and 12:30 and 2 p.m., teaching snowshoeing techniques. Hoigaard's staff will provide equipment to try out free of charge.

On Saturday, a "Hot Chocolate Walk" from 10 a.m.-noon will be led by naturalist Matt Schuth to look for animal tracks in the snow and to learn to identify trees in wintertime. Cost is $5 for members and $12 for non-members. Go to www.arboretum.umn.edu/walksandfitness.aspx or call 952-443-1422.

On Monday, New Year's Eve, "Ar-BRR-etum" will bid farewell to 2012 with skiing or snowshoeing. Admission is free for anyone arriving with cross-country skis or snowshoes.

ST. LOUIS PARK

Jewish Humor Festival starts Jan. 12 at SabesThe Minneapolis Jewish Humor Festival will celebrate its fourth year Jan. 12-26 at Sabes Jewish Community Center in St. Louis Park.

The two-week festival combines one-act plays, one-person shows, stand-up and improvisational comedy, film, workshops and more, "all in celebration of the Jewish contribution to the world of humor," the organizers say.

Admission to the entire festival, except the Laughter Yoga Workshop, is available for $90 for the general public and $75 for JCC members. A five-show pass is available for $50, or $40 for JCC members. Individual shows are $10 to $20.
