Well-tested acting police chief in Blaine to take over the job

August 20, 2008 at 1:30AM

Blaine's acting Police Chief Chris Olson has been appointed to the permanent position, City Manager Clark Arneson announced.

Olson, an 18-year department veteran, has had plenty of tests already as interim chief, Arneson said. "We've had one tornado, the Schwan's Cup and 3M Tournament in the same week, and we've had several other things going on, plus everyday workings of a police department of 61 police officers in a developing suburb, and he's done an excellent job during that time period."

The city now has openings for a lieutenant and a sergeant to fill behind; Arneson said he'd like to have all three promotion ceremonies together in the next few weeks.
