Welcome back: Pistons 108, Wolves 85

All Star break ended as it began: With a loss, only this wasn't close

February 17, 2010 at 8:38AM

Kurt Rambis sure scribbled a lot during and after the third quarter of tonight's lopsided loss to the Pistons.

His team was tied at 52 at halftime, then allowed a 23-4 run in the third quarter's first eight minutes. Included were 12 consecutive unanswered points by the Pistons to begin the quarter.

Somewhere in there -- after four quick bench substitutions did little to stop the Pistons from their dunkfest -- he started scribbling furiously on that marker board he usually writes on as he stands for a prolonged period outside the team's huddle during every timeout and quarter break.

His postgame address was considerably longer than the eight-second, 21-word one he delivered after his team allowed 135 points in Memphis last month.

But it was almost as terse.

This time, he chose one favorite word that he used repeatedly:

Awful.

It has been a late night with a long drive back from the Palace to the Detroit airport for an early flight to Washington in the morning, so tonight's entry is a bit shorter than usual.
