Weekend Travel Weather

December 25, 2009 at 1:25PM

Many people may spend part of the weekend heading home from their Christmas Daydestinations. Shopping may also be on people's minds either Saturday orSunday. The weather, unfortunately, may not totally cooperate with your plans for theweekend. The worst of the blizzard will be over across the nation's northernmidsection. Travel, especially on Saturday, will continue to be hindered asgusty winds blow and drift the snow around.

Ice will make roads slippery in northern New England this weekend. A band ofrain will press through the rest of the Northeast. Not only will the rain leadto slow travel, but it could combine with runoff from melting snow to causesome flash flooding. In addition, fog will form as moist air flows over anysnow-covered ground.

The best weather for travelers this weekend will be found across the South andWest. The arrival of a new storm may make California the exception.
