Resurgent: A Winter Fashion Rock Show

Designer-owned boutique You and Me is inserting a rock 'n' roll edge into its Minneapolis-St. Paul Fashion Week event, with a runway show accompanied by live music from Loveless Aphrodite, Tiger Vs. and DJ Encounter. The event doubles as the debut of the launch party for "Resurgent," a fashion-meets-function clothing line from You and Me co-owners Tim and Thom Navarro, Katy Vereide and Deborah Block.

Rock the Cradle

The Current's annual family-friendly music fest is one show hip parents won't have to call the sitter for. Held throughout the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the next-door Children's Theatre, the free daylong event offers a smorgasbord of activities that should keep the little ones Adderall-free. Enjoy puppet shows from the Open Eye Figure Theatre, storytime with the Current DJs, an interactive photo booth with Playatta, and the ever-popular musical-instrument petting zoo. Kids of all ages should enjoy live music from Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles, Adam Levy's kiddie band the Bunny Clogs, the Okee Dokee Brothers and Koo Koo Kanga Roo.

Oscar parties

With the plethora of Oscar viewing parties this year, you've got no excuse to stay home and watch the star-studded gala in sweats. The officially sanctioned Oscar Night America party benefiting the Smile Network is certainly the glitziest (and priciest), with a red carpet entrance, black-tie dress code, silent auction and swanky locale. (5:30-11 p.m. Sun. 2/26, $65-$165. Cowles Center) If "free" is more in your budget, head to Brit's Pub for movie trivia with John Cosgrove, a guess-the-winners competition, free 2 Gingers whiskey samples and food and drink specials, in addition to watching the show on the big screen. (6 p.m. Sun. 2/26, free. Brit's Pub) For a GLBT-oriented party in St. Paul, the Minneapolis Movie Bears are hosting an annual screening at the Chatterbox, with prizes for predicting the winners. (6-11 p.m. Sun. 2/26, free. Chatterbox Pub)
