THE HAUNTING EXPERIENCE

If your family scoffs in the face of danger, this attraction may suit you. Tread lightly through this plot of wooded land where it is rumored that settlers performed unspeakable horrors. Play the Big Zombie Hunter game where sporty types are armed with a paint gun and help Uncle Ezra rid the land of a pesky vermin problem. There are also hayrides, a corn maze, live entertainment and haunts. (7-11 p.m. Fri.-Sat. $15-$17; $13 for Big Zombie Hunter. The Haunting Experience, 10900 E. Point Douglas Rd., Cottage Grove. www.hauntingexperience.com.)

OKTOBERFEST

It's about German food, entertainment and the star: beer. The band lineup includes the Jolly Huntsmen Band, Bavarian Musikmeisters and others. Leberkase, sauerbraten and pretzels are just some of the items guests can snack on. Vendors will sell authentic wares. (4-11 p.m. Fri.; 12:30-11 p.m. Sat. $5-$25. Progress Center/Eco Experience, State Fairgrounds, Falcon Heights. www.twincitiesoktoberfest.com.)
