OPENING WEEKEND AT HISTORIC FORT SNELLING

Explore the historic buildings and visit with costumed interpreters. Learn about life in early Minnesota through a scavenger hunt, games and a living timeline of military life. Hear the boom of cannon and musket firings and see a hearth-cooking demonstration and American Indian presentations. The exhibit, "IndiVisible: African-Native American Lives in the Americas" opens Saturday. Developed by the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian and National Museum of African American History and Culture, the panel exhibit displays the dynamics of race, community and creativity. As part of opening weekend, special tours will focus on black history in Minnesota (10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat.; noon-5 p.m. Sun. $6-$11.
