Diwali

Midtown Global Market celebrates the Hindu festival of lights with an Indian marketplace and Bollywood dance. Originating in India, the holiday is an expression of light over darkness with clay lamps called "diyas" that are lit and placed on roofs. The event also includes children's performances and craftmaking. (5:30-7:30 p.m. today. Free. Midtown Global Market, 920 E. Lake St., Mpls. 612-872-4041. midtownglobalmarket.org.)
