Folks new to winter sports were invited to discover snowshoeing, geocaching and other winter activities. Last year the event brought more than 1,000 people to the park. WINTER 4PLAY

Those who made resolutions to get fit this year can join in the fitness fun at Fort Snelling State Park. Explore art in the park through the artist-created exercise course. Seasonal activities including cross-country skiing, ice sculpting, skijoring and Minnesota's largest snowball fight. Heat up in the Little Box Sauna and play games. (11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat. $5. URBAN EXPEDITION: SWEDEN

A day of cultural immersion with lessons in music and European crafts. Kari Tauring will tell a traditional story with a language lesson weaved into it.
