In other second-round matches, Barcelona beat visiting Lyon 5-2 to win the home-and-home series 6-3, and Porto played a 0-0 tie against visiting Atletico Madrid, leaving aggregate tied 2-2 and advancing the Portuguese club on away goals. AS Roma and Arsenal were in overtime tied 1-1 on aggregate.

Heather Mitts hit a post with her seventh-round shot, and Sweden defeated the United States 4-3 on penalty kicks following a 1-1 tie in the final of the Algarve Cup women's soccer tournament in Faro, Portugal.
