Softball

Class 4A

Section 7/semifinals: Top-seed Anoka rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat third-seeded Forest Lake 2-1. The two teams will play again in the championship game Thursday after Forest Lake later defeated Blaine 5-3 in the losers' bracket.

Class 2A

Section 4/championship series: St. Agnes shortstop Bailey Larkin drove in two runs in a four-run first inning in the Aggies' 11-5 win over Concordia Academy. The teams, tied 1-1 in their best-of-three, will play again at 4 p.m. Thursday for the section title.

Class 1A

Section 4/championship: Senior Emily Utecht doubled home Mackenzie Leither for the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Kimball defeated Mayer Lutheran 1-0. The Cubs (19-3) also won the section title last year.

Baseball

Class 4A

Section 3/semifinals: Jake Hoge singled home Nick Munson as Park of Cottage Grove rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat second-seeded Eastview 2-1.

Section 7/first round: Duluth East senior Sam Laakso threw a five-hitter in a 3-1 win over Grand Rapids.

Girls' lacrosse

Section 6/first round: Paige Tambornino scored six goals and Olivia De Grage added five as Holy Angels routed Minneapolis 18-6.

Boys' basketball

News and notes: Bryce Tesdahl, boys' basketball coach at New Prague, has been hired for the same job at East Ridge. He's a grandson of legendary coach Bob McDonald.
