TIPSHEET

KNOW THIS

You know the weather is bad when the Gophers have to move their winter ... er ... spring football game from Saturday (more cold and snow) to Thursday (the "nicest" day of the week, which is still below average by the standards of this time of year).

WATCH THIS

This is the kind of night of viewing for which sports fans live: Wild vs. Winnipeg in Game 1 of the playoffs (6 p.m., FSN) and Wolves vs. Denver in a must-win game to get into the playoffs (7 p.m., FSN Plus). If the hockey game goes into overtime, the nerves of Minnesota fans could reach peak fraying around 9 p.m.

RANDOM FANDOM

"The Wild can win if they take care of the shooting zone and the front of the net on D. Keep their guys off the crease. Don't try to do too much and make sure to block shots. Then counterattack. In the O zone, forgo the endless perimeter play and get bodies and pucks to the net."
