MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Villanova upsets No. 3 Pittsburgh • NO. 21 VILLANOVA 67, NO. 3 PITTSBURGH: Reggie Redding had a career-high 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Wildcats past the Panthers on Wednesday night in the last college basketball game played in the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Dante Cunningham added 15 points for the Wildcats (16-4, 4-3), who beat a ranked team for the first time in five tries this season. Sam Young had 14 points for the Panthers (18-2, 6-2), who had one field goal over the game's final 5 minutes and were outrebounded 17-7 in the second half.

PROVIDENCE 100, NO. 15 SYRACUSE 94: Sharaud Curry scored a season-high 22 points to lead six players in double figures, carrying the Friars to an upset of the visiting Orange. Marshon Brooks scored 17 points, and Geoff McDermott and Jonathan Kale each scored 15 for Providence (14-6, 6-2 Big East), which won for the seventh time in nine games and matched its best Big East start since 2000-01. Jonny Flynn led Syracuse (17-5, 5-4) with a career-high 35 points and Eric Devendorf had 27. The Orange lost their fourth in five games.

NO. 5 NORTH CAROLINA 80, FLORIDA STATE 77: Ty Lawson's three-pointer at the buzzer gave the Tar Heels (18-2, 4-2 ACC) a victory over the host Seminoles (16-5, 3-3). Lawson took an inbounds pass with 3.2 seconds left and raced downcourt, swishing his shot at near full speed from the top of the circle. The Tar Heels overcame 32 points from Florida State's Toney Douglas, who scored 24 in the second half to help the Seminoles wipe out a 52-39 deficit and give themselves a chance to win.

CINCINNATI 65, NO. 25 GEORGETOWN 57: Deonta Vaughn scored 20 points as the Bearcats (14-7, 4-4 Big East) sent the visiting Hoyas to their fourth consecutive loss. Chris Wright had 15 points for Georgetown (12-7, 3-5).

BIG TEN

OHIO STATE 72, MICHIGAN 54: Evan Turner scored 14 of his 22 points as the Buckeyes (14-5, 4-4) built an 18-point first-half lead and held on to beat the visiting Wolverines (14-7, 4-5). Jeremie Simmons matched his career high with 12 points, and B.J. Mullens also scored 12 for Ohio State, which had lost its past two games. Michigan's Manny Harris had 22 points, 12 rebounds and 10 turnovers.

NORTHWESTERN 77, INDIANA 75: Craig Moore scored 21 points and Kevin Coble had 19, leading the Wildcats (11-7, 3-5) past the visiting Hoosiers (5-14, 0-7). Devan Dumes scored 26 to lead Indiana, which has lost 10 in a row.

GUSTAVUS 66, ST. MARY'S 59: Ryan McPartland scored 14 points to lead the Gusties (8-8, 7-4) past the visiting Cardinals (5-12, 4-8). Ten players scored for Gustavus. Lukas Holland scored 19 points and Will Wright had 17 for St. Mary's.

BETHEL 73, MACALESTER 60: Tim Madson scored 22 points for the Royals (14-4, 9-4) in a victory over the visiting Scots (0-18, 0-13). Mike Moberg added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Bethel.

CARLETON 67, CONCORDIA 54 (MOORHEAD): Zach Johnson had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Knights (12-5, 8-4) past the visiting Cobbers (7-11, 4-9).

NOTES

• Suspended Miami (Fla.) guard Edwin Rios was arrested and jailed on charges of burglary and grand theft, Miami-Dade County jail officials said. Rios, who was suspended by the Hurricanes on Jan. 12 for violating team rules, was later released on bond.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Sooners hold off Bears • NO. 2 OKLAHOMA 56, NO. 4 BAYLOR 51: Courtney Paris had 15 points with 14 rebounds for her 111th consecutive double-double and scored the tiebreaking basket with 34 seconds left to help the Sooners (17-2, 6-0 Big 12) beat the Bears (17-2, 5-1) in Waco, Texas. Melissa Jones had 16 points for Baylor. Former President George W. Bush and wife Laura sat in the first row behind Baylor's bench.

MIAC

ST. BENEDICT 81, ST. CATHERINE 70: Ariel Tauer scored 19 points and Danielle Frank had 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Blazers (14-3, 12-2) beat the visiting Wildcats (11-6, 8-6). Molly Peterson had 20 points and nine rebounds for St. Catherine, both team highs.

CONCORDIA 80 (MOORHEAD), CARLETON 68: Jenna Freudenberg's 25 points led the visiting Cobbers (13-4, 12-2) past the Knights (7-10, 6-8). Hannah Oken-Berg scored 24 points and moved into fourth place on Carleton's all-time scoring list with 1,326 career points.

BETHEL 64, MACALESTER 48: Lakita Davis scored 15 points for the Royals (8-9, 7-7), who beat the host Scots (8-9, 6-8). Ann Baltzer scored 10 points for Macalester.
