Web gem: The Catalyst

This delightfully quirky, visually rich blog could come only out of California. The work of L.A. designer Jenny Ryf, it's described as "a reaction to design, cats, art and fashion." From the main page, click on "cats" to see many photos of cats posing with famous people (Nina Simone, Jayne Mansfield, Steve Martin, David Bowie). You want photos of trees covered in crocheted tea cozies? Check. Unfortch, the link to Ryf's groovy mix tapes at Mixwit appears to be coming down, but she promises to find another place to park her hipster playlists (which include Architecture in Helsinki, Fleetwood Mac, Felt, M83 and Blonde Redhead -- you get the idea).
