With the cold and snowy April, several road construction projects have been delayed. WIth more than 6 inches of sloppy snow on tap for Monday night and Tuesday, these projects that are scheduled to begin this week might also be postponed.

A concrete repair project on France Avenue in Edina and Bloomington was to begin Monday. Crews were to begin making repairs between American Blvd. and I-494. Over the next three weeks,both southbound and northbound traffic will be limited to one lane with a left-turn and right-turn lane.

Once that is complete, work will shift north. with repairs will tak place between 69th street and the Crosstown.

In Dakota County, construction on the intersection of Hwy. 13 and County Road 5 is scheduled to begin Thursday. The project also will include work on Williams Drive.

Work will include construction of a bridge, ramps, loop, retaining and noise walls and updating storm sewer lines. It also will include upgrades to nearby frontage roads.

County Road 5 in Burnsville will be closed for about five weeks between Williams Drive and the Super America driveway. Williams Drive will be reduced to a single lane in each direction starting Thursday.

As a result, Minnesota Valley Transit Authority Route 421 will be on detour during the construction.

In St. Paul, look for L'Orient Street to be closed between Genesee Street and Granite Street starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday and re-opening at 8 a.m. Friday. the closure is necessary conduct utility work, which is part of a larger project to rebuild I-35E from University and Maryland Avenues.

Work on the Lafayette Bridge will resume Friday as both directions of Hwy. 52 between Concord Street and I-94 shut down from 8 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday.

MnDOT crews will be building a crossover ramp to carry traffic from the current northbound bridge to the new northbound bridge.

When that is completed, any vehicle or vehicle with trailers or the like that are longer than 35 feet will be prohibited on the crossover and must exit at Plato Blvd. All southbound vehicles that are 35 feet or longer will have to follow the posted detour. That will take motorists east on I-94 and south on Hwy. 61 to I-494.

In Arden Hills, look for the intersection of Hwy. 10 and County Road 96 to be closed sometime this week. MnDOT will rebuild the entire intersection this summer and pave the segment of Hwy. 10 between County 96 and Hwy. 10.
