Five people were killed and seven others were seriously injured in a boatingaccident on an Intracoastal Waterway at Palm Valley, near Jacksonville, Fla.The boat crashed into a docked tug boat on Sunday evening around 6:30 p.m.

According to Times-Union in Jacksonville, the stretch of the waterway wherethe accident occurred was narrow, only about 100 yards across.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the deadly crash.

The winds at two observation sites, one in Jacksonville and the other in St.

Augustine, close to the site of the accident were of a gentle or moderatebreeze (11-14 knots or 12-16 mph) at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. EDT. Intracoastalwaters would be expected to be mostly smooth with the light winds that weremeasured.

A small craft advisory is not issued by the National Weather Service untilwinds reach between 25 to 38 mph (22 to 33 knots).

No showers or lightning were around the area at the time of the accident. Infact, skies were partly cloudy and the visibility was 10 miles.
