Weary of the Heat... Relief is Coming

This month has been brutally hot from the Carolinas to southern New England.In Washington, D.C., for instance, there have been 20 days with highs above 90and three days with highs at or above 100. In New York City, it has been 90 orhigher sixteen times, and in Richmond, Va., there have only been four days withhighs lower than 90.

The hot weather will persist in the central part of the United States for daysto come, but relief from the heat is coming for the Midwest and Northeast. Thecool front will reach the central and northern Appalachians Thursday, then passoff the central Atlantic coast Friday. The cool front will drop the temperature5 to 10 degrees and also bring noticeably lower humidity levels.
