Some crappie fishing tips from Wayne Eller:
USE THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT
Too often anglers use oversized rods and line and lures. Eller recommends an ultralight rod with a regular-sized reel and 4-pound high-quality test line.
LURES OR BAIT?
Eller prefers using a simple maribou feathered jig -- with no minnow. "I use a 1/32 nd-ounce jig that is 11/2 inches long," he said. "Plastic twister-tails work well, too." Minnows? "You don't need 'em."

"The idea that crappies aren't biting on a given day is just a myth. There are always crappies biting somewhere in any lake. You just have to find them."
