The Washington Post accidentally published a story announcing that Vice President Joe Biden had entered the 2016 Presidential race on Monday night.
Almost as soon as it went up, however, anyone clicking on the story was redirected to a page with an editor's note reading, "This file was inadvertently published." Washington Post congressional reporter Paul Kane's byline appeared on the story. He addressed the issue on his official Twitter account.
"Earlier tonight, a technical glitch caused publication of a just-in-case/when-we-kno story of VP running for president," Kane tweeted. "It happened when editors were embedding video file. It carries my byline. I regret that it was published accidentally. Deep apologies. Finally, to be clear, we don't know if it's a yes or a no. Full disclosure: I have a he-says-no-story also written."
"Biden world has been classy," he continued. "Someone from VP orbit wrote me: 'At least you didn't accidentally publish his obit.'"
Speculation has been running rampant as to whether or not Biden will seek the Democratic nomination for President, with some reporting he will announce by Wednesday of this week.
"Three sources close to @VP telling me he's expected to announce he is running but the sources are all urging caution on 48-hr timeline," Fox News' chief White House correspondent Ed Henry tweeted.
