Washington County studies website upgrades

November 13, 2011 at 12:18AM

It's been 10 years since Washington County launched its website, and county commissioners and administrators agree that it needs updating. But some research is needed so residents shouldn't expect to see a new look in the immediate future.

County Deputy Administrator Molly O'Rourke said the county is looking at the features it might like to incorporate into a redesigned website. They are also trying to figure out how the county might use social media platforms to improve communication with residents and make it easier for them to get in touch with county officials and departments.

As part of the process, she said, officials have conducted interviews with 60 staff members who interact with the public to get input before the county moves ahead.

There is no timeline as to when enhancements would be initiated, and it's too early to have a cost estimate, she said during a presentation at a workshop following last week's County Board meeting.
