Bryan Bass can remove the word "interim" from his title. He's been named principal of Crosswinds Arts and Science School in Woodbury, where he has been filling in since August when the school's former principal, Anne Andersen, left to take an administrative position in Washington state.

Bass served as principal of Brooklyn Center Junior-Senior High School from 2006 to 2010. He also was an assistant principal at Minneapolis North Community High School and worked as a social studies teacher in the Minneapolis School District.

"Bass comes with a great passion for children and a focus on seeing that all children achieve to their highest potential," said Brenda Cassellius, superintendent of the East Metro Integration District, which serves students in grades 6-10 from St. Paul and nine suburban districts. "He is a strong instructional leader who has a deep knowledge of the International Baccalaureate program at the middle year level that will continue our growth and excellence in programming offered at Crosswinds Arts and Science School."

Bass earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and his secondary social studies teaching license from St. Olaf College, and a masters of arts in education from St. Mary's University of Minnesota. He is working on his doctor of education degree at St. Cloud State University.

"I am excited to join the Crosswinds community," Bass said. Since becoming interim principal in August, "I have witnessed the passion with which Crosswinds staff approach educating each and every student."
