APRIL 30
Suspicious light. A resident in the 400 block of Apple Orchard Road called about a strange light in the area. It was determined that the light was from a cellphone tower.
GRANT
MAY 2
Abandoned boat. A boat was found in a ditch in the 13000 block of Ironwood Avenue. A check on the boat revealed it was not stolen.
HUGO
APRIL 29
Suspicious activity. A van following a school bus was reported near 125th Street and Goodview Avenue. Authorities contacted the owner of the van, who explained she was driving with her mother and following the bus so that the older woman could see her great-grandchildren when they got off the bus.
LAKELAND
MAY 2
Vandalism. The tires of a boat trailer were reported punctured in the 16000 block of 6th Street.
MAHTOMEDI
MAY 3
Written warning. The driver of a vehicle near Mahtomedi Avenue and Juniper Street was given a written warning for speeding as well having illegal taillights, a cracked windshield, darkly tinted windows and an obstructed rearview mirror. He was given seven days to make the repairs.
OAKDALE
APRIL 28
Counterfeiting. A man purchased $355 of computer equipment with counterfeit $50 bills at Best Buy, 8301 3rd St. At the same time a woman tried to make a purchase from another cashier with a counterfeit $50 bill. The woman snatched the bill out of the cashier's hand and left the store when the cashier attempted to verify the bill.
APRIL 29
Parking complaint. An officer responded to a report of a junk boat parked near Upper 35th Street and Garden Boulevard. The complainant said the boat had been parked there last summer. A parking violation citation was given to the boat's owner, who said he would move it off the street.
APRIL 30
Suspicious activity. A man was observed getting out of a red Honda Civic and putting a license plate over the existing rear plate in the 1300 block of Hilo Avenue. The vehicle may have been involved in a gas drive-off around the same time.
Criminal damage to property. A man was reported using a bat to break windows on a vehicle in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Granada Avenue. An officer made contact with the owner of the vehicle, and he admitted to smashing the windows of his car because he was upset it wouldn't start and was having a bad day. He was told to pick up the glass and use better judgment.
WOODBURY
APRIL 29
Theft. Several large landscaping stones were reported taken from a yard in the 2800 block of Wimbledon Ridge. The complainant explained the stones had gradually disappeared over the past year and only half of what she originally had remained.
APRIL 30
Bear concern. A resident in the 11000 block of Brookview Road told police her neighbor thought there was a bear in her back yard because the bird feeders were knocked off a tree. No bear was seen.
MAY 2
Suspicious activity. Police checked on multiple calls of suspicious activity that ended up being related to a juvenile Nerf war taking place throughout Woodbury. In several instances, juveniles were walking or running through yards. Police contacted the youths and were able to get them to stop.
