JAN. 21

Open door. Police noticed the east-side double doors were unlocked and the south-side door was wide open to Hooley Hall on the Washington County Fairgrounds, 12300 N. 40th St. An officer secured the building.

JAN. 23

Abandoned vehicle. A white Lexus was reportedly parked facing the wrong way in the area of Jeffrey Boulevard and Jamaca Avenue for three days. The registered owner was contacted; she told police that her son uses the vehicle to drive to school but it was unclear why he'd parked it there.

JAN. 23

Burglary. The front door of Guys and Dolls Salon, 14643 Mercantile Drive, was smashed in and the cash drawer was open with all the cash missing, according to police reports.

JAN. 19

Burning complaint/smell. Police were dispatched to the 16000 block of 20th Street on a call that someone was possibly burning plastic. Police found a man burning wood in a stove in a garage. He said he was only burning wood, and there was no evidence he was burning anything illegally.

JAN. 18

Soliciting complaint. Police checked on two people with clipboards going door-to-door in the 200 block of Dahlia Street. The two were soliciting for housing in St. Paul and had valid permits to do so.

JAN. 23

Unsafe passing. The driver of a vehicle in the area of Manning Avenue and 159th Street was issued a warning after police observed him pass four vehicles in a no-passing lane.

JAN. 17

Theft. A resident in the 6800 block of 8th Street Lane told police his neighbor saw an orange truck pull into the complainant's driveway and take two bags of aluminum cans from the side of his garage. But the license plate number he provided to police was traced to a car, not a truck.

JAN. 18

Civil issue. An officer contacted a man who was identified as being part of a group of four patrons who left Demori's Italian Restaurant, 950 Helena Av., without paying their bill. The man said it was a misunderstanding and returned to pay the tab.

JAN. 22

Found items. Someone called police after finding a bottle of black screws in the street in the 12000 block of 87th Street Circle.

JAN. 19

Neighbor complaint. Someone in the 300 block of Faversham complained about their neighbor's barking dogs. Police contacted the neighbors, who brought the dogs inside.

JAN. 17

Suspicious happenings. A resident in the 1000 block of Sprucewood called police because their garage door opened at 4:30 p.m. two days in a row. The caller was advised that a neighbor may be getting home at that time and have the same garage opener code. The resident was also advised to lock the door from the garage to their home and unplug the garage door opener to keep it from opening.

JAN. 19

Theft of services. Police responded to a report of a man running away from a $67 taxi fare in the area of Wyndham Way and Sherwood Road. Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.
