AFTON

OCT. 4

Stoplight violation. Police cited a driver for failing to stop at a stoplight at the intersection of Hudson Road and Manning Avenue. Police observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed as it went through the intersection but were unable to get a reading in time to issue a speeding citation.

GRANT

OCT. 2

Theft report. Four political signs were reported stolen from a yard in the area of Joliet Avenue and 96th Street.

HUGO

SEPT 26

Animal assistance. Police helped keep a pot bellied pig from falling out of a second story window in the 4000 block of 149th Street. When police arrived the pig's front legs were dangling out of the window after having apparently pushed the screen off. An officer was able to gain entry into the residence and coax the pig, named Sophie, away from the window.

OCT. 2

Deer carcass. A deer carcass missing its meat and antlers was found in the Irish Avenue Park parking lot.

LAKE ELMO

OCT. 2

Road rage. A pedestrian in the 8000 block of Ironwood Trail reported the driver of a dark colored car swore at her when he drove by. The complainant said the driver was yelling and banging on the steering wheel. Police contacted the driver who explained he was acting that way because he was mad at his girlfriend, not the pedestrian.

OCT. 3

Cracked windshield. Police pulled over a vehicle with a severely cracked windshield in the area of 10th Street and Cimarron. The driver told police it was that way when he bought it. He was given a citation for the windshield and verbal warnings for not having his driver's license or proof of insurance.

MAHTOMEDI

OCT. 1

Found child. A 2-year-old boy was found wandering near O.H. Anderson Elementary School, 666 South Warner Av. His daycare provider believe he probably followed his sister to her bus stop. Police contacted the boy's mother who requested he be returned to his daycare.

OAKDALE

OCT. 1

Burglary. Jewelry and silverware were taken from a home that was broken into in the 1200 block of Holly Avenue.

OCT. 2

Animal concern. Police checked on a report of a dog being left outside and under a recycling bin in the 6600 block of 4th Street. An officer made contact with someone at the residence who showed him the dog, which was still under the bin. The officer advised the resident not to put the recycling bin over the dog anymore.

OCT. 3

Stolen vehicle. An officer was flagged down by someone in the 6500 block of 25th Street regarding an abandoned vehicle that had been parked there for several days. The officer confirmed it was stolen out of West St. Paul. There appeared to be no damage, although the stereo was missing.

SCANDIA

OCT. 4

Failure to comply with impound order. A woman driving a vehicle with impounded plates in the area of Olinda Trail and 240th Street was pulled over by police. The woman told police she was unaware she couldn't be driving with the plates after her husband's alcohol violation.

WOODBURY

OCT. 4

Theft by swindle. A woman told police she gave $20 to a man in the Rainbow Foods parking lot, 7050 Valley Creek Road, after he explained to her he had run out of gas while on an exit ramp and didn't want to get towed. The manager of Rainbow recognized the man as having been there the previous week pulling the same con.
