East Ridge boys win soccer title

There could have been scarcely more at stake when Woodbury played at East Ridge in boys' soccer Tuesday. The intradistrict rivals were both undefeated and tied atop the Suburban East Conference. On the line were bragging rights, a conference championship and even a possible No. 1 ranking in Class 2A.

Top-ranked East Ridge left no doubt which team was better, getting three goals from leading scorer Connor Stevenson in the first 15 minutes in cruising to a 5-2 victory.

Stevenson scored a fourth goal in the second half, giving him 22 this season. The victory bumped the Raptors' regular-season winning streak to 18 games before Thursday's match at Forest Lake.

The Woodbury and East Ridge girls' teams played after the boys, with Woodbury gaining a small measure of revenge with a 3-1 victory. The Royals earned at least a share of the Suburban East title with the victory and had a chance to win the championship outright with a victory or a tie against Mounds View on Thursday.
