Party planned for Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty is having a birthday party, and kids ages 3 to 6 and their parents are invited.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their party attire to the Oakdale Parks and Recreation Department's "Once Upon a Star: Happy Birthday Sleeping Beauty." It will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Oakdale Discovery Center, 4444 Hadley Av. N.

Children will make a felt-board cake for Aurora, then create bracelets, play party games and dance the "Hokey Pokey" with the princess. The cost is $12. Registration by Friday is required. For information, call 651-747-3860.

Quilt show at the fairgroundsMembers of the River Valley Quilters Guild will show off their handiwork this week in Hooley Hall at the Washington County Fairgrounds, Hwy. 5 and Manning Avenue.

Along with a display of more than 100 quilts, the Quilted Treasures Quilt Show will include a sale of quilting-related items and refreshments. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $5. For more, see www.rivervalleyquilters.com.

Theater in a garageOff-Leash Area brings its 2007 hit, "A Gift for Planet BX63," to what might be the smallest venue in Stillwater: A garage.

The Ivey Award-winning company will present the play at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Big Pink Garage, 1900 N. 2nd St. Because of limited seating, reservations are required. Tickets are $5 to $15 and available by calling 651-439-3362.
