For $50, you can hang out for an evening with literary rock stars and help send students to school.

And for $150, you can not just hang out with them, but hang out with them at a VIP reception.

"The Soiree for Scholarships," benefiting the scholarship fund for Warren Wilson College's MFA program, will be held Oct. 10 at Le Meridien Chambers, 901 Hennepin Av., Minneapolis. (Why here? Perhaps because Warren Wilson faculty member Charles Baxter lives here?)

Warren Wilson faculty and graduates will be there, including Baxter, David Haynes, Antonya Nelson, Dean Bakopoulos, Daniel Tobin, and Ellen Bryant Voigt. (Ask her about her shiny new MacArthur grant!)

MInneapolis playwright Kira Obolensky has written a short skit for the evening, in which Charles Baxter will make his acting debut.

Heather McElhatton will emcee (she and Obolensky are Warren Wilson alums). The movie "A Walk in Winter," starring Graywolf Press poet (among many other things) James Franco (also a WW alum) will be shown; and there will be a silent auction. (One of the prizes: a manuscript review.)

There will be dancing. There will be music.

Tickets are on sale online here.
