A northwestern Minnesota man was killed early Thursday in a crash on Hwy. 1 in Marshall County after his SUV hit a semitrailer truck head-on, police said.

David S. Knutson, 24, of Warren, was heading east on the highway just after 7 a.m. when his vehicle crossed the center line, striking the much larger oncoming semi's driver's side in the westbound lane. Knutson died at the scene.

The semi driver, 46-year-old Mark Aune, of Thief River Falls, was uninjured. Both men were wearing their seat belts.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the wreck.
