Some people come back to the woods each year and strike the match just abit to hard. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad for all the hunters, but the ones who shoot the stop signs, toss there beer cans and stay to long at the bar, then whine that never see a deer, make me a bit tired. Two weeks after season, just like those overly sparked matches some of us get the privilege of defending better hunters who don't throw the deer carcasses in the ditches, we don't trespass or shoot at deer out the truck window. One bad apple can really spoil the whole show for a lot of folks who try to do the right thing as often as possible. And maybe a reminder of the ten commandments of gun safety are in order………… 1.Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. 2.Firearms should be unloaded when not actually in use. 3.Don't rely on your gun's safety. 4.Be sure of your target and what's beyond it. 5.Use proper ammunition. 6.If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, handle with care. 7.Always wear eye and ear protection when shooting. 8.Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before shooting. 9.Don't alter or modify your gun and have it serviced regularly. 10.Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the firearm you are using. ……after I read those,………….. I see no mention of buying the correct license, or to make sure you know legal shooting hours, are you properly attired with blaze orange, and so on, but a big dose of common sense would go a long way for a safe hunt for all, hunters and non- hunters alike.
