The Minneapolis school board is looking for people who want to help select the next superintendent.

This week, the school board released an application for its superintendent selection committee.

The group will consist of six community members, including one student, three board members, the district's community engagement facilitator and the board's student representative.

Along with the district's search firm, the committee will vet up to 10 candidates and recommend up to three finalists to the board.

Days after the application was released, Radious Guess, the community facilitator, said the majority of applicants were white.

The board has said it wants its selection committee to represent the diversity in the district, including race and income.

Those interested can apply at http://board.mpls.k12.mn.us/super-search. The application is due by April 1.

The board intends to select its next superintendent by the end of July.
