Set up the phones. Tim Walz has got some calls to make. The Mankato Democrat recently formed a leadership Political Action Committee, a staple of many budding politicos looking to boost their stature. Unlike campaign PACs, the primary purpose of leadership PACs is to raise money for other candidates (other Democrats, in Walz's case). And no leadership PAC would be complete without a vague patriotic moniker. Walz chose "The Renewing the American Dream PAC." PAC spokester Shelli Hesselroth said they do not plan to hold fundraisers, but instead "Congressman Walz will be making calls to potential donors and supporters." That's on top of the calls he already makes for the campaign. By setting up this committee, Walz joins almost every member of the congressional delegation who already have leadership PACs (Bachmann and Paulsen do not). Click here for an overview. Michele Bachmann is not without her own fundraising news, however. The Stillwater Republican recently formed a joint fundraising committee with the Minnesota GOP, the "Minnesota-Bachmann Victory Committee," to raise money together. h/t to Tom Scheck at MPR.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
