It's a paving operation that will bring a four-day closure of the Wabasha Street bridge in downtown St. Paul. The closure between Kellogg Boulevard and Fillmore Avenue will be in effect from Tuesday through Friday, said city spokesman Joe Ellickson.

Traffic will be routed over to Robert Street while the bridge is closed.

Crews will work from sunrise to sunset each day to complete the work to prevent concurrent closures of the the High Bridge (Smith Avenue) which will close on Sept. 5. That bridge won't reopen until the fall of 2018 as MnDOT puts a new deck on the bridge.

Construction will continue on the Wabasha Street project after the paving project ends on Friday. Construction on Wabasha Street – from Plato Avenue to the south end of the bridge at Fillmore Avenue includes the addition of center median, upgrades to lighting and utilities, improving curbs and gutters, repairing sewer, water mains and catch basins, and improving aesthetics for the intersections including boulevard trees, public art, and walkways.
