Thanks to the generosity of a local contractor, a disabled boy and his family are days away from moving into their once condemned Minneapolis home. First, they need a few helping hands to finish the job. The family of Sulebaan Mohamed bought the house in the 3100 block of Clinton Avenue S. last year from a real estate investor who did not provide the required disclosures to sell a house in such poor condition. The family also paid a contractor $46,000 to renovate the house, but she never finished the work.

After Whistleblower described the family's situation in June, James Brown of Brownsmith Restoration took over the work. Brown said the city will inspect the house next week, so he needs volunteers to help with painting, roof repairs, vinyl siding and fixing a garage door this weekend. Contact him at 612-702-7489 or visit brownsmithrestoration.com.
