MINNEAPOLIS — Volunteers are being sought for the 2015 U.S. Pond Hockey Championships next month in Minneapolis.

Hundreds of helpers are needed for the outdoor hockey competition.

The event features more than 600 games in three days. Referees stand off-rink and mainly serve as scorekeepers and make goaltending calls. No previous experience is needed, but hockey knowledge is a must.

The championships will be played Jan. 15-18 on frozen Lake Nokomis in south Minneapolis. The four-on-four competition for men and women will include more than 250 teams from nearly every U.S. state, Canada and other countries.
