Volunteer heading to Anoka-Hennepin school board

January 26, 2013 at 10:49PM

The Anoka-Hennepin school board appointed Bill Harvey to serve as the District 3 member last week.

The Champlin resident is active in the community and has volunteered at several local schools and organizations, currently serving as vice president and director of the Champlin Park High School Vocal Music Association.

With three kids in the district ranging from seventh grade to high school, Harvey said he and his wife have always felt a "strong sense of responsibility in our children's schools."

Harvey said he didn't have specific goals in mind for his time on the board but was ready to work with students in the district. "My role will be to assist in the continuous improvement and academic growth for all students."

A graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato, he is a sales project director at the Anton Group in Minneapolis, a commercial furnishing and consulting company.

Harvey replaced John Hoffman after he was elected to the state Senate in November.
