Visual, written work to commemorate crime victims in Minnesota

April 10, 2008 at 12:33PM

An exhibit of visual and literary arts commemorating Crime Victims' Rights Week in Minnesota opens Friday.

The fifth annual exhibit, co-sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Justice Programs and Minnesota State Arts Board, opens at 3:30 Friday afternoon at the Arts Board, 400 Sibley St., St. Paul.

Sixteen artists and writers were invited to show their work, which reflects a range of victim experiences: assault, rape, domestic abuse and murder of a child.

April 13-19 is Crime Victims' Rights Week, when victims and survivors, and those who serve them will join together to promote victims' rights and services, and to educate communities about the devastating impact of crime.

The Art of Recovery runs through June 30.
