An outbreak of dangerous severe thunderstorms that began on Sunday over the Great Plains will persist in earnest well into the overnight hours over a swath from southwestern Texas to southern Wisconsin. This outbreak of locally violent weather will stretch over northwestern Illinois, eastern Iowa, northern and western Missouri, southeastern Kansas, north-central Texas and much of Oklahoma. Within it will be greater Kansas City, Oklahoma City, and Dallas-Fort Worth.

Some thunderstorms will unleash flooding downpours. Damaging winds and hail will threaten as well. Worst of all, there will be some nighttime tornadoes.

An area at unusually high risk of very large hail and tornadoes will reach over western Oklahoma and nearby northwestern Texas northward into central Kansas.
