An outbreak of dangerous severe thunderstorms that began on Sunday over theGreat Plains will persist in earnest well into the overnight hours over a swathfrom southwestern Texas to southern Wisconsin. This outbreak of locally violentweather will stretch over northwestern Illinois, eastern Iowa, northern andwestern Missouri, southeastern Kansas, north-central Texas and much ofOklahoma. Within it will be greater Kansas City, Oklahoma City, and Dallas-FortWorth.Some thunderstorms will unleash flooding downpours. Damaging winds and hailwill threaten as well. Worst of all, there will be some nighttime tornadoes.

An area at unusually high risk of very large hail and tornadoes will reachover western Oklahoma and nearby northwestern Texas northward into centralKansas.
