The Vikings worked out free-agent running back Jonas Gray today.
Gray, 26, has appeared in 16 NFL games with three different teams. He is best known for rushing for 201 yards and four touchdowns in one game for the Patriots two years ago. He has since spent time with the Dolphins and Jaguars and worked out for the Dolphins earlier this week.
Gray has averaged 4.4 yards per carry over his career while rushing for 588 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 3.9 last season, though.
The Vikings have three running backs on their active roster — Jerick McKinnon, Ronnie Hillman and Matt Asiata. McKinnon is expected to return to the lineup on Sunday when the Lions come to town.
