May 17, 2012 at 2:37AM

The Vikings will spend an extra week in Mankato this year during training camp.

The team announced Wednesday that camp opens in Mankato on July 26 and will break there Aug. 16, spending the rest of the preseason at Winter Park.

For the past three seasons, the Mankato portion of training camp lasted only two full weeks, ending before the team's first preseason game. The team's preseason opener this year is Aug. 10 in San Francisco.

The Vikings' other exhibition games include contests against Buffalo (Aug. 17) and San Diego (Aug. 24) at Mall of America Field and a trip to Houston on August 30.

The regular season opens Sept. 9 against Jacksonville.
