Vikings superfans give power to the purple

January 8, 2016 at 6:30PM

Sports fans often wear their loyalty on their sleeves, but these Vikings superfans wear it everywhere.

Just donning a replica jersey or souvenir sweatshirt isn't nearly enough for them. They show their support through over-the-top costumes, inventive masks and creative props — inhibitions are optional.

Meet them under any other circumstances, and you'd see just a bunch of regular Minnesotans. But when the Vikings are playing, their sartorial enthusiasm knows no bounds.

It takes dedication; some of them start gearing up more than six hours before game time.

Sure, it gets them a few minutes of attention — sometimes accompanied by raised eyebrows — among their fellow spectators. But when kickoff time comes around Sunday, there's little doubt that these hard-core purple people would trade all that for a victory in the playoffs.
