The Vikings used their first pick of the seventh-round -- 214th overall -- to take Penn State tight end Mickey Shuler.
Shuler redshirted in 2005 and had no statistics in '06 before playing in 13 games in '07. He had seven receptions for 91 yads with a touchdown as he started three games.
Shuler started six of 13 games and caught nine passes for 120 yards with one touchdown in 2008. Last season, he formed a tight end tandem with Andrew Quarless and caught 11 passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games.He started four games in two tight-end sets.
Shuler's father, Mickey, also was a tight end at Penn State before playing for the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles from 1978 to 1991.
