INDIANAPOLIS -- The Vikings have agreed to a one-year contract with wide receiver Jaymar Johnson.

Johnson, who would have been an exclusive rights free agent, spent the 2010 season on injured reserve after suffering a broken left thumb in the Vikings' preseason opener at St. Louis.

Johnson, 26, a sixth-round pick of the Vikings in 2008, spent his first season on the practice squad. He caught one pass for 9 yards in 2009 an averaged 8.4 yards on 16 punt returns. Johnson was expected to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster last season before his injury.

It surprised some that Johnson was placed on injured reserve because the broken thumb did not take all season to heal.

Meanwhile, agent Drew Rosenhaus declined to comment this morning about Sidney Rice's contract situation when approached before the annual meeting of agents here at the NFL Scouting Combine. Depending on what happens with the NFL's collective bargaining agreement, Rice could become a free agent.

However, since it's expected there won't be a new CBA in place by March 3 when the old deal expires, the Vikings also could place a restricted free agent tender on Rice.

It's Day 2 of the combine and the activity already is underway in the media room. Several coaches and executives will speak today. Vikings coach Leslie Frazier is scheduled to address the media at the podium at 10:15 a.m. We'll have plenty of updates on Twitter and the blog after Frazier speaks.

Quarterback, running back and wide receiver prospects also will be speaking to the media today.
