Receiver Jarius Wright might have hit on something when asked why he thinks the Vikings passing game will be "fixed" compared to last season.

"Basically," he said, "Norv Turner is throwing the ball more."

Matt Cassel, after jumping from starting to backup roles in 2013, asserted himself as the starter at quarterback in the preseason by efficiently executing the time-tested offense designed by offensive coordinator Turner.

"The offense last year was great," Wright said. "But I think we needed more balance. There are a lot of routes in the playbook. Norv likes running more routes and deeper ones. Sometimes, it just depends on what the offensive coordinator likes to call."

Worth considering

20 The Vikings ranked 20th in the NFL last season in passes attempted (546), a number likely to go up in Turner's new offense.
